NEW WORK

Always looking for meaning inside the struggle.

craft and process - in search of beauty.

Finding all the little facts and details that make up a larger truth. That's what Don Guss strives to do in his work. By using box making as a metaphor, he creates spaces of contemplation and exploration where his audience can access the different personas living within him - his fears, his hopes, his joys - and discover truths about themselves, too. He believes art should go beyond what is seen on the surface, using symbols and materials to reach an emotional level that speaks to everyone. It's no surprise then, that he uses recycled post-consumer materials in many of his works, showing us how each of us is made of something else, whether it be an experience, emotion, or thought. There is always something to be learned from examining one’s inner-self; by creating these interactive artworks, Don Guss encourages us to ask ourselves "what is true, and is it beautiful?"
